MEDIA ADVISORY: Championship Regatta & Pledge Drive - Coast Capital Savings Community Corporate Rowing Challenge - May 31, Victoria

VICTORIA, May 26, 2008… On Saturday, May 31, companies throughout the Lower Vancouver Island will participate in the Championship Regatta of the 15th Annual Coast Capital Savings Island Community Corporate Rowing Challenge (CCRC) at the Gorge Rowing and Paddling Centre. Over the past seven-weeks, corporate teams have been training hard to race in the Championship Regatta where they will put their skills to the test in a friendly competition!

Everyone wins – because the corporate teams and supporters are raising money to benefit Dynamic Opportunities for Youth; a free rowing program to help youth at risk in Victoria. Last year, $12,000 was raised, which put 75 youth at risk through Dynamic Opportunities for Youth. This year, we are hoping to raise over $15,000, which will put over 90 youth through the program.

Date: Saturday, May 31, 2008

Location: Gorge Rowing and Paddling Centre, 2940 Jutland Road (at the waterfront)

Championship Heats: 9am to 4pm (approx)

Championship Finals: 4pm to 4:30pm (approx)

Pledge Drive: Youth at Risk Rowing: 9am to 1pm

Awards Presentation: 4:30pm (approx). Includes Pledge Drive results announcement!
