This event was created to give Vancouver Island teams a competitive day of racing at a world-class facility (GRPC) and a great tune-up for racing at the Victoria Dragon Boat Fesitval next weekend (Aug.12-14). As the sport of dragon boat has grown this event has developed into a high caliber race featuring some of the fastest teams in British Columbia. The races kick off at 9am, and teams will be battling over the traditional 500 metre distance. The race-course is very spectator friendly, and Dragon Boat festivals are always exciting and a great spot for fun with friends and family.

The event will feature a Breast Cancer Pink Carnation Ceremony to remember those in treatment and those no longer with us. Also, back by popular demand is the Mens Only Demonstration Race called the He-Man Bro-Tastic Stache-Down. With racing in most festivals being Mixed teams or all Women's, this men's only showdown (Stache-Down) will be a fun addition to the event. Also, the event's Charity of Choice is the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - BC/Yukon . There will be on-site fundraising activities, including a chance for paddlers to get back their coaches, with the "Dunk Your Coaches" Dunk Tank!

Dragon boating has been an exciting summer activity in Victoria for over a decade. The RE/MAX Gorge Fest Dragon Boat Regatta offers teams great competition, promises extremely close races, and great community spirit. We hope to see you there!

The event is produced by the GO Rowing and Paddling Association of Canada (GO) and the Gorge Rowing and Paddling Centre (A GO Centre).
